SystML Launches New Training Services

SystML[1] announced today the availability of its range of XML training services in the UK. As an inaugural event to mark the launch of its new premier training service, SystML has invited XML expert G. Ken Holman for a week of both lecture and hands-on XML sessions in Birmingham's high technology venue on May 22nd to 25th , 2006.

Mr. Holman of Crane Softwrights Ltd. in Canada[2] was a member of the W3C Committee that created XML from SGML, the founder and two-year chairman of the XML Conformance Committee, and founder and two-year chairman of the XSLT/XPath Conformance Committee[3]. He is currently the International Secretariat Manager for the ISO Committee responsible for SGML and XML (ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 34), and active chairman of subcommittees and task groups for the Universal Business Language (UBL) project[3]. As founder and CTO of Crane Softwrights Ltd. Mr. Holman has developed a number of lecture and hands-on training courses[4], successfully delivering them in worldwide venues for the past nine years[5].

"We are very pleased to have Ken Holman as our guest here in the UK", said SystML founder Adrian Thomasset. "Given the global demand for high quality XML training we are very fortunate that Ken has found the time to fit this event into his forthcoming European tour."

XML technologies are successfully being applied throughout the electronic and computing industries and have also become a central tool advocated in government policy. "SystML's core expertise mainly covers the application of XML to business requirements, especially in the area of business-to-business documents and transactions," explained co-founder Stephen Green. "We recognise the need, at this stage, for comprehensive coverage of core XML technologies along with XSLT and XSL-FO in providing useful training. Many aspects of these technologies are demanding and clearly need authoritative training, which can be provided by experts such as Mr Holman."

The audience is expected to include decision makers, managers and developers as well as professionals from the printing and publishing industries. To cater for this diversity the event is divided into two main areas. For managers, day one will consist of a half-day seminar presenting the current usage of XML in the corporate environment followed by a technical overview in the afternoon. The next three days consist of a series of hands-on technical classroom style sessions aimed at a technical audience.

By registering before the 1st of May[6] an inaugural introductory discount offer is available for only £75 for the two half-day sessions which include both XML management and technical overview lectures on the 22nd of May[7][8]. Similarly a £175 offer is available for each full-day hands-on interactive training workshop May 23rd (XML Syntax)[9], 24th (XSLT)[10] and 25th (XSL-FO)[11]. By registering before the 1st of May early-bird applicants will save the pending charge of £25 per training day that will be added for later registrations.

Delegates should bring their own Windows or Linux laptops for the hands-on workshops and be prepared to be challenged! This is an opportunity to gain a solid practical understanding of the use of XML standards.
